Cryoablation Study

Technical Title: An Observational Study of Hemi-Gland Cryoablation Outcomes for Prostate Cancer at UCLA

Disease Type: Prostate Cancer

Basic information:
The purpose of this study is to collect and analyze pre-and post-treatment clinical data on patients at UCLA undergoing hemi-gland cryoablation to treat prostate cancer.

Research Procedures (not a complete list):
Patients will be invited to take part in this study if they have or plan to undergo hemi-gland cryoablation to treat prostate cancer. The study is observational. Patients who agree to participate in the study will allow study staff to collect data from their medical records for research. They will also complete extra questionnaires about urinary and erectile function, which will take about 5 to 10 minutes to complete.

Eligibility Criteria (not a complete list):
Inclusion Criteria:

  • Prior hemi-gland cryoablation procedure, or plans to undergo this procedure
  • Low- or intermediate-risk prostate cancer
  • PSA ≤ 20

Exclusion Criteria:

  • Prior treatment for prostate cancer other than androgen deprivation therapy
  • Unable to tolerate anesthesia
  • Unable to complete follow-up MRIs or prostate biopsies
