December 5, 2012
At the close of my first full year as Chair of the UCLA Department of Urology, I am extremely proud to be leading such an exceptional group of physicians, researchers and staff, whose combined efforts have helped UCLA Urology remain one of the best in the country. UCLA Urology has been ranked Best in the West and top 4 in the nation every year that US News & World Report has issued these rankings. UCLA Urology counts on your generous support to sustain our innovative programs, and we ask that you give again this year to provide the necessary support as the Department expands, advances and takes its next steps into the coming year.
Your gift is vital to advancing the Department’s core mission of promoting outstanding patient care and supporting the educational and scientific programs of our medical institution. Generous support from our friends has an immediate impact on the Department by providing the necessary funding to
- advance promising research initiatives such as improving diagnostic strategies used to detect kidney transplant rejection at its earliest stage,
- launch specialized educational programs like our recently accredited fellowship in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery,
- develop state-of-the-art facility enhancements to enrich patient care with new technology to improve the accuracy of prostate biopsies,
- initiate community engagement ventures as evidenced by the recent expansion of Frank Clark Urology Center in Santa Monica to include minimally invasive, robotic-assisted surgery capabilities and a robust kidney stone program.
These are but a few of the many programs and initiatives actively underway at UCLA Urology. I ask that you visit our department website at urology.ucla.edu to read and see for yourself.
On behalf of my colleagues, I offer our sincere appreciation for your ongoing support, which allows us to continue our important work of healing humankind one patient at a time. Please consider making your gift today.
Thank you for your belief in our extraordinary work. I wish you all the best for the holiday season and for 2013!
Sincerely,
