Assistant Researcher

  • The UCLA Department of Urology has an immediate opening for an ambitious independent PhD with at least 3-years of experience to work under the direction of Dr. William Aronson. 

    The Assistant Researcher will perform translational research in various aspects of molecular biology and mouse & human physiology related nutrition science for the prevention and treatment of prostate cancer utilizing animal models and human clinical trials.  Nutrition interventions of interest include dietary fat reduction, omega-3 intake from fish oil, caloric restriction, and combining nutritional therapies with targeted pharmacologic therapies.  Advanced level of research expertise in pre-clinical and/or clinical research, molecular and cellular biology, high throughput real time PCR, xenograft mouse models, and transgenic and knockout mouse models are required to carry out the proposed work for existing grants, to generate preliminary data for new grants, to assist with grant writing and manuscript preparation, and to oversee the work of laboratory Personnel. Must be proficient with research computing technologies.

Division of Robotic and Minimally Invasive Surgery, 12-month Fellowship

  • The Division of Robotic and Minimally Invasive Surgery is seeking candidates for a 12-month fellowship starting July 2013 and July 2014, respectively.

    The fellows will be involved in laparoscopic donor nephrectomy, laparoscopic radical nephrectomy, robotic assisted radical prostatectomy, robotic assisted partial nephrectomy, robotic assisted radical cystectomy and benign laparoscopic and robotic procedures under the direction of Jim C. Hu, MD, MPH, the fellowship director. The successful candidate will also spearhead research efforts in conjunction with the Center for Advanced Surgical and Interventional Technology (CASIT) and be expected to contribute to manuscripts and grant applications. Finally, the fellows will be responsible for formal instruction of the housestaff in the operating room and during teaching conferences.

Postdoctoral Position in Prostate Cancer Biology

  • A postdoctoral position is immediately available in the laboratory of Dr. Robert Reiter, Department of Urology, David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA.

    Our research focuses on studying mechanisms of resistance in advanced prostate cancer and developing targeting therapeutics. The successful candidate is expected to operate independently and able to develop sound research strategies within the scope of our research program. Minimum requirements include a PhD and/or MD with good molecular biology and cell culture skills and ability to interpret experimental data. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in studying cell signaling pathways, in using xenograft models, and with first-authored publications in peer-reviewed journals.
